As we grow, we’re seeking a driven and strategic financial leader to oversee our accounting function, strengthen our financial controls, and help guide the company through its next phase of expansion.
This position is based in Memphis, Tennessee. Candidates must be able to work on site in Memphis. This role is not eligible for remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, and reconciliations
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely and accurate GAAP financial statements
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting procedures in accordance with GAAP
- Lead financial reporting—providing management with clear statements, variance analysis, and actionable insights
- Partner with department heads to manage budgets, monitor performance, and forecast cash flow
- Work in conjunction with the VP of Finance to coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Manage and optimize the ERP system (NetSuite) to improve efficiency and data integrity across all financial workflows
- Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Support long-term financial planning, scenario modeling, and strategic business initiatives
- Perform other duties as necessary to support the growth and operational excellence of the Company
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or leadership roles
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Proven ability to manage complex processes, multi-system reconciliations, and cross-functional collaboration
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with NetSuite required, Shopify preferred
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive problem solver with a drive for process improvement
- Demonstrates professionalism and integrity when working with internal teams, vendors, and partners
- Full-time, in-house position located at Chêne Headquarters in Memphis, TN

The Retail Store Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of Chêne Gear’s flagship Stuttgart store, ensuring an exceptional customer experience, strong sales performance, and efficient store management. This role combines hands-on leadership, team development, merchandising, community engagement, and responsible oversight of all retail operations.
This position is based in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Candidates must be able to work on site in Stuttgart. This role is not eligible for remote work.
Leadership & Team Management
- Recruit, hire, train, and mentor retail team members, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and brand pride.
- Set daily, weekly, and seasonal sales goals; monitor performance and coach team members to exceed targets.
- Schedule staff effectively to align with traffic patterns, events, and peak seasons.
- Lead by example on the sales floor, delivering outstanding customer service.
Customer Experience
- Ensure every customer receives personalized, knowledgeable, and friendly service.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment, including the lounge and community areas.
- Handle escalated customer concerns with professionalism and swift resolution.
- Educate customers on Chêne Gear products, warranties, repairs, and brand story.
Store Operations
- Oversee daily opening and closing procedures.
- Manage inventory control, stock replenishment, and loss prevention.
- Execute visual merchandising standards and seasonal product displays.
- Coordinate with headquarters on promotions, product launches, and events.
- Monitor store expenses and optimize operational efficiency.
Liquor Sales Management
- Ensure the sale of alcoholic beverages complies with all Arkansas state laws and local regulations.
- Verify all required licensing is current and prominently displayed.
- Train all staff in responsible alcohol service, including proper ID verification and refusal of service when necessary.
- Maintain secure storage and accurate inventory records for all alcoholic products.
- Monitor and enforce procedures to prevent sales to minors or visibly intoxicated individuals.
Community & Brand Engagement
- Serve as the primary in-store brand ambassador for Chêne Gear in Stuttgart.
- Organize and support in-store events, hunting season kick-offs, and vendor showcases—including those involving alcoholic beverage service—ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.
- Partner with marketing and events teams to attract traffic from the local and traveling hunting community.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3+ years of retail management experience, preferably in premium apparel, sporting goods, or outdoor gear.
- Experience in managing the sale or service of alcoholic beverages, with knowledge of state and local compliance requirements preferred.
- Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with POS systems, inventory software, and retail reporting tools.
- Passion for the outdoors, hunting, and/or waterfowl culture preferred.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak seasons.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a high-traffic, fast-paced environment, especially during hunting season.
